A group of lawyers representing Guantanamo Bay prisoners urged a federal judge Thursday to invalidate the Protect America Act of 2007, the law President Bush signed days ago granting the administration broad and warrantless electronic eavesdropping privileges.
“We are asking your honor, as swiftly as possible, to declare this statute unconstitutional,” said Michael Avery, a lawyer for the Center for Constitutional Rights.
