NATO prepares for possibility of new Balkan conflict

NATO has stated that it will maintain its KFOR Kosovo peace force at present levels, and will supply new troops as necessary to counter any violence in the province, as Serbia spoke of "war" on Friday. "KFOR shall remain in Kosovo on the basis of UN Security Council resolution 1244, unless the Security Council decides otherwise. We renew our commitment to maintain KFOR's national force, contributions, including reserves, at current levels," the NATO communique said after a meeting of foreign ministers of the 26-nation alliance.

Baghdad Bonanza: The Top 100 Private Contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan

KBR, Inc., the global engineering and construction giant, won more than $16 billion in U.S. government contracts for work in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2004 to 2006—far more than any other company, according to a new analysis by the Center for Public Integrity. In fact, the total dollar value of contracts that went to KBR—which used to be known as Kellogg, Brown, and Root and until April 2007 was a subsidiary of Halliburton—was nearly nine times greater than those awarded to DynCorp International, a private security firm that is No. 2 on the Center's list of the top 100 recipients of Iraq and Afghanistan reconstruction funds.

Pentagon abandons active-duty time limit

The Pentagon has abandoned its limit on the time a citizen-soldier can be required to serve on active duty.

A soldier could be mobilized for a 24-month stretch in Iraq or Afghanistan, then demobilized and allowed to return to civilian life, only to be mobilized a second time for as much as an additional 24 months.

History will judge Bush more kindly

There seems to be a rush to judgment among present-day liberals to portray the war in Iraq as a lost cause. A recent letter stated, "I, for one, have had quite enough of staying the course and allowing more troops to be killed." Another writer voiced the opinion that Bush's presidency would be judged poorly due to the war.

Fox News And Neocons Growing Impatient With Bush

Crooks&Liars

Brit Hume and Bill Kristol want unilateral action in North Korea and in Iran. George W. Bush isn't willing at all to initate any military action in N. Korea. These two are complaining that the president has abandoned the PNAC doctrine. Brit Hume is so drab and tiresome that he it is painful to watch him. The Straussian slug Bill Krisol wants your sons and daughters to die in needless wars so that he can make more speeches at universities and sling his neoconservative rag, The Weekly Standard.
