George Santayana rightly said, “Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” It is we who will suffer if we do not learn from history. The global monopoly men who make our leaders dance like marionettes ‘swaying to the symphony of destruction’ understand history cunningly and will benefit from it. It is these death merchants who funded and trained the Mujahedeen i.e. ‘those who fight’ to fight a proxy war that the soviets had no chance of winning. The Afghani fighters were trained by CIA and SaS who provided aid and comfort to some of the most malignant thugs known in that region.
In case of martial law, break glass
Submitted by MichaelVail on Tue, 09/18/2007 - 4:32pm.
Bush now has the ability to declare martial law at his own discretion, and in so doing dissolve the other branches of government, throw out the constitution, and suspend elections. He appropriated the right to do this largely by executive order. He can declare martial law whenever he deems there is sufficient cause; cause being an act of terrorism, an economic crisis, an act of war, civil unrest, or a natural catastrophe.
Rudolph Giuliani Appeals To The Anglo-American Establishment
Submitted by MichaelVail on Thu, 08/16/2007 - 2:52pm.
We are all members of the 9/11 generation. The defining challenges of the twentieth century ended with the fall of the Berlin Wall. Full recognition of the first great challenge of the twenty-first century came with the attacks of September 11, 2001, even though Islamist terrorists had begun their assault on world order decades before. Confronted with an act of war on American soil, our old assumptions about conflict between nation-states fell away. Civilization itself, and the international system, had come under attack by a ruthless and radical Islamist enemy.

Submitted by MichaelVail on Wed, 07/25/2007 - 8:59pm.
For students, fire drills and earthquake drills are simply the norm, but on Wednesday, in a sign of the times, students in Albany took part in a school shooting drill that, as you'll see, was very intense.
Our Militarized Police Departments
Submitted by MichaelVail on Wed, 07/04/2007 - 9:36am.
Mr. Chairman, distinguished members of the committee, thank you for inviting me to speak today. I’m here to talk about police militarization, a troubling trend that’s been on the rise in America’s police departments over the last 25 years. Militarization is a broad term that refers to using military-style weapons, tactics, training, uniforms, and even heavy equipment by civilian police departments.
Patriot Act unfairly turns victims into `supporters' of terrorist actions
Submitted by MichaelVail on Thu, 04/26/2007 - 11:42pm.
The civil war in Iraq has stranded 2 million Iraqi refugees in neighboring countries - and Washington says that up to 7,000 of them may be resettled in the United States this year.
But which ones?
During a recent trip to the Middle East, I talked with many refugees who seemed to deserve resettlement in the United States, but may never get it. Even though they have been brutalized by the factional fighting in Iraq, the U.S. government might label them "supporters of terrorism."
Pre-crime Security System Targets Suspicious Characters "Before" Crime Occurs
Submitted by MichaelVail on Wed, 01/10/2007 - 11:43pm.
Baltimore, MD (AHN) - Cernium Inc.'s new technology in video-surveillance systems provides information on suspicious behavior "before" the crime. This behavior-recognition software zones in on suspicious characters and warns the security staff.
John Hopkins University utilizes the security system at its Homewood campus. The results have been astounding, with bike thefts reduced from 25 in 2005 to three in 2006 and crime dropping 20 percent.

America's Secret War: The President knows more than he lets on
Submitted by MichaelVail on Mon, 10/30/2006 - 9:14pm.
One hundred suspected terrorists from all over the world are still being held in secret American prisons. In an interview with SPIEGEL ONLINE, CIA expert Ron Suskind accuses Washington of "running like a headless chicken" in its war against al-Qaida. He reserves special criticism for the CIA's torture methods, which he argues are unproductive.
