Iran-Mottaki-S hanghai Mottaki: Iran ready to join Shanghai Cooperation Organization

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Iran is ready to join Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). After meeting with Tajik President Imomali Rakhmon here on Monday, Mottaki told reporters, "Iran has observer status in the SCO and has recently requested for membership which Tajikistan government has supported it."

Shanghai Cooperation Organization Prepares For Massive Military Exercise

Preparations have been completed for next month's joint anti-terrorist exercise by Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. The exercise, called "Peace Mission 2007," is the biggest military exercise in the organization's history. All six SCO members -- China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan -- will take part.
