According to information sources in Istanbul Workers' Party (İP) Chairman Dogu Perinçek, İP Secretary-General Ferit Ilsever and Cumhuriyet daily chief columnist Ilhan Selcuk, as well as former İstanbul University Rector Kemal Alemdaroglu, were detained as part of an investigation into a criminal network that calls itself "Ergenekon", after a legend of how Turks came into being.

According to occupation news sources, a heavy fighting is taking place in the Tabasaransk district of Dagestan Vilayat of the Caucasus Emirate since 30 Dhul-Hijjah 1428 (January 8, 2008) between the mobile units of Mujahideen and the joined formations of kafirs (infidels) and local murtads (apostates).

(AP) TEHRAN, Iran Iranian officials said Wednesday that they have taken delivery of advanced Russian air defense missile systems — weapons intended, according to one Russian news agency, to defend Tehran's major nuclear facilities.
