TRENTON -- A New Jersey senator wants to make it illegal to sell or give to anyone under age 18 toy guns that look so realistic they can be mistaken for a real firearm.
"The margin between a child's stupid mistake and a tragic ending is far too thin," said Sen. Nicholas Scutari.

Governor Eliot Spitzer’s proposal to greatly expand the state’s database of DNA samples along with the exoneration last week of a New Jersey man who served 19 years in jail for the gruesome murder of two children has reopened debate about the use of a technology that could fundamentally change how justice is administered in New York City.
Why rot in jail? Donate an organ and get out of jail free!

A South Carolina Senate panel last month endorsed a proposal to cut 180 days off the sentence of an inmate who donates an organ or tissue for use in transplantation. This proposal is well intentioned, but misguided.
