Under George W. Bush, the United States has not lived up to its historic role as a leader in the Western Hemisphere. As president, I will restore that leadership by working to advance the common prosperity and security of all of the people of the Americas. That work must begin with a renewed strategic partnership with Mexico.

The United States and Canada have inked an agreement to help one another during civil emergencies. Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart, commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command and Northern Command based at Peterson Air Force Base, and Canadian Air Force Lt. Gen. Marc Dumais, Canada Command commander, signed the pact last week.

A Conference Board of Canada report says the country needs to integrate its economy even further with the United States and among Canadian regions, if it is to overcome issues of lagging productivity and income growth.

Focusing on commercial vehicle safety and homeland security issues, the Ohio State Highway Patrol is participating in Roadcheck 2007 -- 72 hours of continuous commercial vehicle inspections throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The effort starts today and runs through Thursday.

America was fashioned by our founding fathers as a constitutional republic with inalienable rights endowed to its citizens. In the past America was the beacon of liberty which was the one of primary reasons why our country flourished. Free men and women starting businesses and developing inventions made this country what it is today. If you've been in a subway car in San Francisco, London, Boston, Rio de Janeiro or one of several other cities recently and thought you saw a short film playing along the dark walls of the tunnels, you're not going crazy.

In fact, what you saw was one of the latest forms of advertising technology, which is slowly taking over one of transit riders' last refuges from commercial messages.

The technology, which comes from companies such as Canada's SideTrack and New York-based Submedia, is just what it sounds like: ads displayed on subway tunnel walls in nearly 10 cities worldwide promoting products from companies including Microsoft, Target, Coca-Cola, Reebok and Honda.

 

OTTAWA (AP) -- Promoting prosperity topped the agenda at a gathering of U.S., Canadian and Mexican Cabinet leaders Friday, but immigration and the threat of terrorism also were key topics at the gathering.

Nine foreign and security ministers from the North American nations met in Ottawa, including Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.

The Security and Prosperity Partnership talks were a lead-up to a meeting of the countries' leaders this August in Canada.

Mexico is sitting pretty in the event of the formation of a North American Union (NAU). Its Third World status would be wiped off the slate in the NAU. That's because the United States of America has already absorbed millions of Mexicans and millions more keep pouring over the border.

Readers of the AIM Report are accustomed to learning of huge distortions or omissions by the media. This time, the under-reported story deals with the possible end of America, as we know it. Major players are secretive and are trying to keep the media out of the loop. But that does not let the mainstream media off the hook. There is enough stonewalling, secrecy and there are plenty of telltale signs, so that any assignment editor whose curiosity is not aroused is probably in the wrong business.

The annual homeland defense Vigilant Shield exercise, sponsored by the North American Aerospace Defense Command, U.S. Northern Command and U.S. Strategic Command, tests the synchronization of the three commands in responding to complex scenarios that challenge the homeland defense matrix in the U.S. and Canada.
