Despotism by definition is, dominance through threat of punishment and violence. A system of government where the ruler is an absolute dictator. America is the first of her kind. A land where its citizens threw off the shackles of oppression and established independence with government that cherishes the rights of the people.

Our forefathers knew how precious this land called America was. This system of government is not perfect as it was designed for the white male but rights were given to women and other races eventually. If you know anything about the constitution then you know that our representatives in government have curtailed our rights over time. and you may not even know what you are missing.

We have inalienable rights and not permissions or privileges! Inalienable which means they are absolute and cannot be taken away. Yet liberty requires responsibility and the knowledge of the laws of our nation. Ignorance is not bliss! Our forefathers knew nothing of gun registration, marriage licenses and the like because they did not exist. Our constitution does not mention these things.

I will be careful not to digress but take for example you are pulled over by your local police department for speeding and the friendly neighborhood police officer wants to search your vehicle. Most people will think, "I have nothing to hide." They will allow him or her to search their vehicle, yet the 4th amendment is clear. They were not violating your rights because you were not aware of your rights. You step out of the car and they search your person and your vehicle. Your friend in the passenger seat stuffs an unknown controlled substance in the seat and you are off to jail. It happens everyday. Know your rights and you will garner much more respect from police and if not you know that you can address your grievances in court.

Back to despotism, this 1942 video shows how you can compare it your government. First of all our system of government is not a Democracy, it is a Republic. It has nothing to do with Democrats or Republicans. A Democracy is mob rule, the majority rules and if you are a minority then you have no privileges or rights. A Republic is where those who govern and the people who are governed are equals. We have representatives in government who are supposed to represent the people. We are a Constitutional Republic.


There are some variables that you can apply that will inform you whether or not your country is on the fast track to fascism:

Respect:
The respect scale is definitively going towards despotism. Our police officers are being militarized and examples of recent police brutality are numerous. no-knock [1] shootings and the ACLU [2] taser incident are excellent examples.

Power:
The will of the people has been ravaged by Diebold machines and ballot tampering.
The Bush administration has placed power in the hands of just a few men. No-bid contracts by Halliburton and merging governmental organizations under the control of Homeland Security shows the extreme concentration of power.

Economic Distribution:
In America there is still a strong middle and upper-middle class in spite of job outsourcing
and land theft through eminent domain. In Mexico the middle class has been dismantled but its citizens want to come to America for a better life. They do not realize that they drive down our wages and reduce our quality of life.

Information:
The alphabet news organizations such as ABC/CBS/NBC/CNN indulge in tabloid television and paid prepackaged [3] news. Instead of informing the American people with relevant news and information, they make a concerted effort to bury it. Welcome to government-controlled programming [4]. The don't call it programming for nothing! There are a few exceptions in this case but is clear that the television news media is used to pacify the American people. Curious about censorship? How many embedded reporters do you think cover the Iraq war? [5] The answer is nine. For a country the size of California it seems the pipeline of information is very narrow.
