MICROCHIP PEOPLE LIKE YOU DO PETS

I feel compelled to write regarding the identity card. I think I will annoy quite a few people with my views but I think in the long run it will be more cost-efficient both for the government and for people; if you have nothing to hide, what's the problem?

I have for a long time joked at work that we should, like many pets, be microchipped: sounds harsh, I know, but think of the positives before you knock the idea.

Medical details - blood group, fingerprints, donor details, any other medical details such as diabetes or allergies: no more bodies lying unidentified.

Proof of ID; I was stuck behind a poor lady tonight doing Christmas shopping with no ID as she had exceeded the amount on card: all bank, mortgage details, work ID etc.

Driving licence, ownership of car, insurance, points, convictions, MoT.

Passport, for life, including access to USA; why update so many times? Asylum-seekers - a sure safe way to check them.

Proof of age, place of birth, any criminal record.

Work. I believe doorways can be microchipped with a program which will aid employers with fire risks, clocking in and out: in pubs and clubs or any other places such as hospitals, shopping centres: with fire hazards etc.

Police checks: will hopefully help solve crimes quicker with details held on file: hopefully some way of incorporating fingerprints.

Any information can hopefully be sent via mobile phone: if, say, a hospital had altered illness for patient, signal can be sent and updated to chip.

Why are people worried about Big Brother? They are, after all, there to help and protect us. I don't want to sound like we should become robots, but in reality this information is paramount. This cost should be down to the government; this shouldn't be impossible, bearing in mind the cost of many of the above charges. The place to start may be when babies are born and tested for various things at birth; part of this test can be to store blood type, age, date of birth, parents etc. to help cut crime in the future.

We are all quick to knock the police, hospitals etc when things go wrong but perhaps with a bite of high-tech help life can be simpler and safer for all.
